Amperion Inc.is a US company with headquarters in a city called Lowell, about 25 miles north of Boston, Massachusetts. Amperion Inc. has entered into a joint venture with other investors to form a company called Amperion Asia, which has the exclusive rights to distribute Amperion's products across the PRC. Amperion Inc. has developed a family of products that enables high-speed internet access using electrical power lines, instead of DSL or cable technologies. It is often called Broadband over Powerline (BPL). A key element of the Amperion solution is that Wi-Fi users can access this broadband capability which is carried over a utility company's medium voltage power lines (underground or overhead). This opens the possibility of BPL being adopted as an additional IP-based networking technology for voice, data and video transmissions.
